Teahouse

Drinking tea like it's our business.

sunny 90 °F

Our final stop of the day was at a teahouse outside of the Temple of Heaven. The tea girl (my term) taught us how to properly serve 5 different types of tea and did a tea tasting with our group. We tried Jasmine tea, black tea with lychee, pure tea, fruit tea and a green tea. The majority of the group preferred the sweet fragrant jasmine tea. Our hostess had a good time teasing Dan for not knowing more about tea. I guess all Chinese are supposed to know this stuff? Who knew? Not Dan, that’s for sure!

I am not a huge tea fan, but black tea with lychee is great. Tell us more about the kinds of food you are eating too!

We are being very careful about the foods that we eat! Our guide has been strongly discouraging us from eating any street food or any street drinks. The plum juice looks delicious but is mixed with tap water. The food in the hotels has been Chinese-lite and very westernized. The meals that we have on the tours is pretty good. We had hand cut noodles today that were delicious! The texture was fantastic as the noodles had varying thickness so they were a little chewy. I loved them.
